Human Rights Policy
1. Our Adherence to International Standards and Legal Compliance
The Nippon Chemi-Con Group (the "Group") adheres to international standards including the United Nations' Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights ("UNGP"), the International Bill of Human Rights and the OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises, and fosters its efforts to uphold respect for human rights. We have been adhering and giving respect to the Ten Principles of the UN Global Compact since affixing our signature to the documented principles.
The Group abides by laws and regulations of other countries. If a law or regulation of a country is not consistent with the relevant international standard, we will comply with the higher criterion, or seeks a way to upholding respect for the internationally proclaimed human right to its maximum if such law or regulation contradicts the international standard.
2. The Scope of Applications
The Nippon Chemi-Con Group not only applies the policy of upholding respect for human rights to the officers and workers of the Group but also addresses the policy to business partners related to our value chain.
3. Human Rights Due Diligence
The Nippon Chemi-Con Group is determined to deepen the understanding of different human rights issues arising in the processes of its entire value chain, to make precautional approach to negative impacts on human rights in society and to establish and carry out the procedure for human rights due diligence in order to relieve or avoid such negative impacts.
4. Remedy Scheme and Whistleblower Windows
If a member company of the Nippon Chemi-Con Group in the course of business activities is found to have caused a negative impact on human rights or to have involved in developing such impact, we will take prompt and appropriate measures to correct the negative impact, which include working on the correction through the relevant business partner.
While expanding our consultation windows in Japan and other regions of the world, we are going to develop and enrich an effective remedy scheme where the parties concerned feel secured throughout the scheme. To fulfill our responsibility for upholding respect for human rights, we will continue to build up and maintain a systematic procedure that ensures reliable and transparent handling.
5. Dissemination of Education and Awareness
The Nippon Chemi-Con Group will continue to hold education and enlightenment programs so that officers and workers of the Group come to properly understand our policy for human rights and to practice them in their daily operation. In addition, for broader dissemination of the policy within and outside the Group, we will work business partners into comprehending our policy.
6. Transparency and Reporting
To make steady progress in our efforts to uphold respect for human rights, the Nippon Chemi-Con Group will disclose information on such efforts in a timely and appropriate manner on its website, etc.
Furthermore, in the case that a negative impact on human rights is recognized, the Company will, if necessary, consult with third-party organizations with professional findings, grasp the problems involved, and correct such negative impact through talks and conferences with our stakeholders.
The Nippon Chemi-Con Group's Position for Upholding Respect for Human Rights
The Nippon Chemi-Con Group is building a fair and comprehensive environment in its entire business activities and making no unjust treatment of individuals based on their attributes that are protected in the laws of countries and regions. Such attributes include nationality, race, ethnic group, country of origin, religion, faith, belief, thought, gender, age, disability, sexuality, gender identity, employment status, disease, health condition, etc. We also strictly prohibit our officers and workers from exploiting child labor, forced or compulsory labor, slave labor and human trafficking, and monitor their associated risks. If such a risk were recognized, we will promptly take corrective measures including collaboration with third-party organizations.
To make the above-mentioned efforts more systematic and effective, we will build up human rights due diligence and continue reinforcing such efforts.
1. To Our Business Partners
The Nippon Chemi-Con Group is requesting its business partners to adapt their measures to the international human rights standards, which include establishing rightful and proper terms and conditions of labor, ensuring a safe and healthful workplace environment, upholding the freedom of association and the right to collective bargaining, offering proper wages and welfare benefits, properly managing labor time, deterring harassment and bribery, and prohibiting forced labor and child labor.
In addition, we will continue to provide, when needed, opportunities for business partners to attend explanatory meetings and/or trainings, which will improve their awareness of human rights and enrich their understanding so that they come to carry out in practice what they have learned.
2. To Our Workers
The Nippon Chemi-Con Group will, to all of its workers, establish rightful and proper labor terms and conditions, provide a safe and healthful workplace environment, and prevent job applicants from paying unjust expenses on recruitment. In addition, we will uphold the freedom of association and the right to collective bargaining, and offer proper wages and welfare benefits. Furthermore, the Group will thoroughly work on properly managing labor time against overwork, foster responsible labor practice, and deter harassment and bribery.
