Points of caution when altering aluminum electrolytic capacitor terminals

About terminal processing

When processing terminals for the purpose of mounting, make sure to fasten the lead line and make sure that no internal stress is imparted on capacitor. Also be careful as processing could cause the removal of surface coating or the method used to fasten terminals could result in pressure marks.

Fastening the element side to conduct terminal processing should be avoided as this could impart internal stress on the capacitor, which could result in product deterioration (leakage current, increased ESR, etc.)

We recommend using forming products for which terminal processing has already been conducted during the capacitor manufacturing process.

About terminal processing for conductive polymer capacitors

While it is possible for customers to process the terminals of conductive polymer aluminum solid capacitors, please be very careful to avoid applying mechanical stress to the capacitor unit.
Compared to electrolytic capacitors, the repairability of the electrode foil oxide layer in conductive polymer capacitors is limited. As such, they are highly susceptible to stress during terminal processing, and damaging the electrode foil oxide layer could lead to increased leakage current or cause a short circuit.

Please note that our Company provides no warranty service for terminal processing conducted by the customer.
