Precautions for Use of Supercapacitors

When handling supercapacitors, make sure that they are discharged and try not to put stress on them. Also, please make sure you thoroughly understand the method of use and usage environment before using supercapacitors.

[Precautions in use]

  1. Check the usage and installation environment and make sure not to use supercapacitors in excess of its rated performance.
    1. High temperature (temperatures in excess of the category temperature range)
    2. Overvoltage (voltages that surpass the rated voltage)
    3. Applying reverse voltage or AC voltage
  2. The outer sleeve and resin plate of supercapacitors does not ensure electrical insulation.
  3. Supercapacitors have a finite and regulated service life.
  4. Please avoid using  supercapacitors in the following environments.
    1. Environments in which capacitors could be directly exposed to water, saltwater, oil, or condensation, and environments filled with gaseous oils or salts.
    2. Environments filled with toxic gases such as hydrogen sulfide, sulfurous acid, chlorine, ammonia, bromine, or methyl bromide).
    3. Environments in which capacitors could be exposed to acidic or alkaline solvents.
    4. Environments in which capacitors could be exposed to direct sunlight, ozone, ultraviolet rays, or radiation.
    5. Environments in which capacitors could be exposed to severe vibrations or shocks.
  5. Do not wash supercapacitors.
  6. Do not use adhesives or coatings containing halogenated solvents or similar substances.

[Precautions on handling]

  1. When a capacitor is fully charged, short-circuiting the output terminals could cause the electric current to flow as high as a few hundred amperes. Please do not install or uninstall a module when it is charged.
  2. Please do not drop supercapacitors. Do not use it once it is dropped.
  3. Please make sure of the polarity when assembling supercapacitors into a module.
  4. When assembling supercapacitors into a circuit, position it so that the case and the circuit electronic components do not come in contact with each other.
  5. Please follow the specification of the screw tightening torque.
  6. Please do not deform supercapacitors when assembling it into a module.
