Supercapacitors DC-internal Resistance (DCIR)

The DC-internal resistance (DCIR) of supercapacitors is the measurement value for the internal resistance of the capacitor cell, and the direct current normally used for measurement. This resistance is the sum of the resistance of the materials (electrodes, electrolyte, etc.) in the capacitor, and the resistance of the internal connections. It is measured in Ohms (Ω). The larger the surface area of the opposing electrodes, the lower the DC-internal resistance.

The internal resistance of a capacitor is measured at its regular current. Sometimes the simpler equivalent series resistance (ESR) is measured at an ac current of 1 kHz. But the DC-internal resistance is greater than the equivalent series resistance(1kHz).
