Nippon Chemi-Con is developing the new camera module “ML Series” advancedly equipped with Automotive SerDes Alliance (ASA), the new transmission standard established by the organization promoting next-generation high-speed interface.
As the number of pixels and units increases to aim the higher level of automated driving, transmission capabilities with high-speed and large-capacitance are required in the connection path to the processing system.
To meet market demands, we have advanced the development of camera modules utilizing various transmission technologies such as a 2.5-megapixel camera module featuring MIPI A-PHY, a standard adopted by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) in the United States. As part of this initiative, Microchip Technology provided us with ASA Motion Link (ASA-ML), an open standard with a maximum transmission speed of 8 Gbps. We subsequently applied ASA-ML to a camera module with a higher pixel count.
Moving forward, we will incorporate ASA-ML, an open standard like A-PHY into our product lineup to expand sales opportunities and support the development of camera modules for the growing automated driving market with drawing on our experience in the automotive field.
ASA:An organization established in 2019 by car and semiconductor manufacturers to promote high-speed transmission
A-PHY:A high-speed transmission standard that MIPI Alliance released on a in 2020
Microchip Technology Inc.:A leading provider of semiconductor solutions headquartered in Arizona, USA
