Supercapacitors Electrolyte

The electrolyte in supercapacitors is a conductive liquid which affects properties such as internal resistance and withstand voltage. Electrolyte for capacitors comes in aqueous solution and organic solvent types. Nippon Chemi-Con uses an organic solvent type electrolyte which allows the capacitor to achieve a high withstand voltage. The solvents used for the organic solvent type electrolyte include acetonitrile and propylene carbonate. Nippon Chemi-Con uses comparatively safer electrolytes (such as propylene carbonate).

Electrolyte solvent Boiling point Flash point
Propylene carbonate 242℃ 130℃
Acetonitrile 81.6℃ 5.6℃
